NBA

Basketball contracts are the ones that are most controlled in my opinion.  There is a max contract so their is a limit.  Many players do get big contracts that do not deserve it though.

NBA PLAYER Joe Johnson 119 million for 6 years. Max contract for a player that is not a superstar. He is a star player but he is making LeBron James kind of money, even more. When Joe is 35 he will get 25 million that year. You can't tell me a 35 year old athlete will be worth that amount of money.

Rashard Lewis
Rashard Lewis another example of a player being overpaid.  In 2007 he signed a 6 year 110 million dollar contract.  If a player is making over 100 million you would expect him to be a top 10 player right? Well he is not in the top 20 in my opinion.
